Todd was born and raised in the Edmonton area. His earlier professional life included health care, hospitality and human resources. 

In 2007, the death of a stepson and planning that young man’s funeral changed life forever.  It had never been clearer to Todd that he needed to change his direction in life.  As much as he used to laugh when he would hear someone had ‘found their calling’ – he now understood what that meant. He completed funeral service education, graduating from Mount Royal University as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. In the beginning, he worked as a Licensed Funeral Director and in 2009, began serving families as a Certified Funeral Celebrant and has worked with hundreds of families since then providing gentle guidance and comfort during one of the most difficult times of their lives. Todd then completed his certification as a Grief Recovery Specialist and in addition to his service as a Funeral Celebrant, provides individuals and groups with the tools and courage necessary to work through unresolved grief.  Todd provides community and public education about grief and has spoken at universities, community groups and conferences.
